Wynnum Foreshore
The foreshore is free and open access — there's no gate and no set hours. It runs along Wynnum Esplanade and connects north into Manly.
What it's for
Council's own heritage material lists picnics, walking, cycling, fishing, boating, informal sport, swimming, windsurfing and birdwatching as established uses of the Wynnum, Manly and Lota foreshores — not just a walking track.

The Wynnum–Manly foreshore walk
Council describes it as a 10km return route. Start at Elanora Park, cross the 800m mangrove boardwalk section, then follow the seafront via Fox Bridge and Oyster Point.
It's pram- and scooter-friendly. Dogs are welcome on leash along the walk itself.

Off-leash areas
Elanora Park itself is a Council-designated off-leash area. On the Manly side, there's a separate off-leash beach between the rock walls at the end of Davenport Drive. The rest of the foreshore walk stays on-leash — Brisbane has only three foreshore off-leash areas citywide, to protect shorebird habitat.

A self-guided heritage route
If you'd rather follow a set route with stops along the way, Council's Wynnum Heritage Trail runs 4.4km in a loop with 18 points of interest, from the Wading Pool Park to the jetty, plus a 2.6km extension along the foreshore toward Manly.

Fishing
Pandanus Beach, at Wynnum Wading Pool Park, is used by Council's own programs for land-based fishing instruction — useful confirmation it's a shore-fishing spot, though tides, regulations and catch conditions aren't covered here.

What's changing
A 20-year master plan for the Wynnum, Manly and Lota foreshores is in progress. Community engagement is complete; Council is preparing a draft vision through mid-to-late 2026, with another feedback round before a final plan targeted for early 2027. Nothing has been built or changed yet — it's still in the planning stage.

Nearby food
Ilo Bakehouse, on Wynnum Esplanade, opened in August 2026 in the former Island View Cafe space — pastries, focaccia, sandwiches and coffee aimed at foreshore visitors wanting something to take away. Check the business's own current hours before visiting.
